Job Title: Youth Services Director

 

Job Description: The Youth Services Director will be responsible for the
management of both Juvenile and Young Adult services at the library. The
Youth Services Director will oversee collection development, programming,
purchasing electronic materials and will supervise library staff currently
working in Juvenile and Young Adult services in the main and branch library.
The Youth Services Director will work in collaboration with the Library
Director to help improve current operations and plan for future services.
The Youth Services Director will be expected to spend some of the week
working at the library's reference desk. In the Library Director's absence,
the Youth Services Director will supervise library operations.

 

Requirements: Candidates should have a Masters in Library Sciences from an
accredited university. Candidates must also have at least two years'
experience working in a public library, specifically in youth services. Some
supervisory experience is preferred.

 

Pay and Benefits: The Youth Services Director will receive health insurance
benefits for themselves, two weeks of paid vacation, and an employer
contribution to IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund). The salary will
range from $38,000 from $43,000 depending on experience.

 

About the Library: The Washington District Library serves a population of
approximately 24,000 and has an operating budget of approximately one
million dollars. We have a branch library and main location and are located
about fifteen minutes away from the city of Peoria, IL.
