Hello all,

About this time last year, I sent this group an email asking for examples o=
f how your library uses mapping applications or GIS (Google Maps, mashups, =
etc). A number of you have responded leading me to your wonderful projects=
. I have written a book for librarians showcasing examples of mapping proj=
ects and GIS technology used in libraries. "Getting Started with GIS: a LI=
TA Guide" is an introduction to using GIS for library purposes. It's fille=
d with step-by-step tutorials to train the non-user on resources that will =
help with patron requests and library projects. If you're interested in le=
arning about the latest online mapping programs or if you're considering st=
arting a GIS service in your library, you may find this book is just what y=
ou need.

Some of the public library projects mentioned include:

New York Public Library
Brentwood Public Library
Cleveland Public Library
Haines Borough Public Library,
Vancouver Public Library
Woodstock Public Library
Chanhassen Public Library
Franklin Park Public Library
Shoshone Public Library
Greene County Public Library
Kingston Public Library
Kitchener Public Library
Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County
San Diego Library
