As a reviewer, I have not noticed a decline in the number of books I'm
receiving. But I do know that at BEA, HarperCollins gave out cards that
gave access to downloadable versions of their ARCs instead of printed
copies. And I've been getting a lot more email offers that I need to respond
to for ARCs rather than the book just showing up. One publisher actually
sent a questionnaire about my reading/reviewing habits to better match their
ARCs to what I'll probably read. That said, I'm still getting about 20-25
books a week, which is pretty typical for me. I don't know if they are
cutting back to libraries, I have not heard that.

Have any of you noticed a decline in the number of Pre-pubs you're
receiving? We used to get a box of about 15-20 titles every month (we
circulate roughly 10,000 items a month). However, our most recent delivery
was only about 8 titles. I use these copies as a buying tool and often buy a
large percentage of the titles for our collection.

Has anyone else noticed this? Are publishers cutting back? Is it a
reflection of our frozen budget and the reduction in book buying we suffered
through last fiscal year? Any thoughts?
