To continue your travel example, how about the patron
who loved A Year in Provence (944.92) and wants more
books like that? The shelf next to that book might The
books that spring to mind that the patron might also
enjoy are maybe Under the Tuscan Sun (945.5), A House
in Corfu (949.5), In a Sunburned Country (919.404) or
maybe The Lobster Chronicles (974.1). Or they could
go to the Travel Narratives section at the bookstore
and all those books plus many more would be shelved
together on a few rows, alpha by author. Seems way
easier than running all over the travel section,
peering between the Fodors and the Rough Guides.
