POSITION TITLE: Development Coordinator (union)
APPLICATION PERIOD: 

LOCATION: Service Center
Beginning:       April 27, 2007  

RATE: $26,871.00/yr              25+ hrs/wk (Exempt)
Closing Date: May 11, 2007

 

DUTIES:  Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of
Programs, Outreach, and Marketing, plans, directs, organizes and
oversees all fundraising functions of the KDL Foundation.  Raises money
for KDL Foundation through prospect identification, cultivation,
in-person contact and solicitation of individual, organization and
business donors.  Cultivates major gift prospects.  Develops and
maintains effective working relationships with donors and prospective
donors while maintaining regular contact via correspondence, meetings,
special events and in-person contacts.  Works collaboratively with KDL
Board of Trustees, staff members, KDL Friends groups, Alliance of
Friends and library advisory boards to identify avenues of economic
support for the KDL Foundation.  Serve as liaison to the KDL Foundation
Board.  Responsible for maintaining close working relationship with the
Foundation Board, supporting and encouraging the continuous functioning
of this Board as it seeks to increase private and public sector funding
for the Library.  Develops a deferred/planned giving program.  Develops
and employee-giving campaign.  Conducts annual giving campaigns,
collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on the
advertising, promotion, and messaging of campaigns.  Develops
advertising plans for KDL Foundation via media, KDL publications,
website and to KDL stakeholders.  Develops appropriate fundraising
materials, including donor brochure and a donation link on KDL website.
Develops major special events to raise funds and public awareness.
Secures underwriting/sponsorship support for special events and other
developmental activities related to the KDL Foundation.  Communicates
the outcomes and accomplishments of the KDL Foundation to donors and the
community.  Develops an annual KDL Foundation report.  Develops a donor
relationship database.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bachelor's degree and two-four
years of professional work experience in fund development and marketing
preferably in a public service environment and/or related field.  Strong
relationship building experience and the ability to be persuasive.
Ability to travel between work locations and related places of business
as needed. Ability to work under general administrative direction with
considerable latitude in exercising independent judgment and discretion
subject to Library policies, procedures and professional practices.
Ability to work effectively with Friends Groups and local library
advisory boards. Knowledge of the community. Ability to conceptualize
projects, organize and manage multiple priorities, while meeting
deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills. Computer skills
with proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Physical ability to operate a variety of office machines and equipment
(i.e. telephones, personal computers, digital camera, etc.) Visual
acuity necessary to view a computer screen and written materials.
Hearing ability to answer telephone and inquiries from staff and
patrons. 

 

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of public
libraries, their services and practices preferred.

 

HOURS AND LOCATION: KDL provides library services to our local
communities seven days per week. All positions will require some evening
and weekend hours, including Sundays.  While this position is currently
assigned at the above location, KDL reserves the right to require all
employees to be available for assignments at any KDL location.
