Director, Indianhead Federated Library System, Eau Claire, WI.



Due to a retirement, IFLS is seeking a full-time dynamic, innovative library 
system director to manage the operations, service and resources of the 
library system.  The Director is responsible to the System Board of Trustees 
and implements its vision, policies and strategic plan to provide regional 
library services.  IFLS is a state-funded agency, which provides a range of 
regional services to 53 independent public libraries and 4 county library 
services in a 10-country region in west central Wisconsin.  System services 
include interlibrary loan, delivery, consulting, continuing education, 
technology support, a library books-by-mail service and a shared automated 
system for 40 member libraries using Innovative software.  For more

Responsibilities of Director:

?       Articulating and implementing the vision for system services

  a.. Strategic planning for delivery of system services
  b.. Managing the headquarters operations of the system
  c.. Human resources management of system staff of 14 including 3 
professional librarians.
  d.. Financial planning and implementation of the system budget of $1.6 
million
  e.. Participating in state-wide library initiatives
  f.. Providing leadership in the effective use of technology for libraries


The following qualifications are required in the Director:

  a.. Eligible for grade 1 Wisconsin Public Library Certification, which 
requires a Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
  b.. Demonstrated/exemplary senior management experience and skills
  c.. Policy development vision for library service
  d.. An ability to implement library technology


Five years of progressively more responsible public library or system 
experience preferred



Eau Claire, a city of 64,000, is the largest in the system and is a regional 
medical, high-tech, and shopping center close to many recreational sites. 
Eau Claire is home to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Chippewa 
Valley Technical College, excellent schools, and many cultural and community 
activities.  At the same time, Eau Claire offers the comforts and 
conveniences of small town life - affordable housing, friendly people, lower 
cost of living and active community groups.



Compensation: From $65,000, commensurate with experience.   Excellent 
benefits package.
