Subject: Self-serve holds

I work in Va Beach libraries and at the branch we work at we allow patrons to pick up \
their own holds. Our branch is one of 12 branches. We print the patrons first four \
letters of their last name, last four number of their library card number and the \
date the hold will be removed. We have had no problems that I know of with privacy. \
Because we don't have patrons whole names listed, privacy is not breached. If a \
patron comes up to check out a book that is not held for them our computer system \
will alert us, usually it is a mistake. I love that fact that patrons can now get \
their own holds, and they seem to like it.
