I'm using OpenBSD 3.5 GENERIC, proftpd 1.2.10 and have between 170-250
anonymous users being throttled. System is 2.8ghz xeon 2gb ram.

Every second or two i get a "warning: unable to throttle bandwidth:
Interrupted system call".
After about a month of operation the the ftpd server refuses all new
connections, a HUP doesn't fix.

I managed to log for one of these periods (25gb log). Just before freeze i
saw 13 of the above message, followed by 12 : FTP session closed, all in the
same second, then logging stopped.

While watching -nd5 one time i noticed that proftpd trottles and sleeps very
quickly, perhaps this is just triggered by stress of all the quick system
calls.

It'd like to reduce the throttling select signals. Is there a way to extend
the sleep period once sleep is needed? At 1k/s for example a user would see
2k, then nothing, then 2k, rather than constant 1k/s which is more stressful
on the server. Or set amount of data sent before checking for the need to
throttle? i think vsftp did this. If not, perhaps a feature request, or if
you could suggest a hack :).

Compiled-in modules:

  mod_ls.c
  mod_log.c
  mod_site.c
  mod_ctrls.c

  mod_sql_mysql.c

Thanks.
