Pasted session to illustrate bug which is reproducable every time:

ftp> page doesntexist
doesntexist: No such file or directory
ftp> dir
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list
ftp: netin: Connection reset by peer

At this point, the session hangs until it times out.  DIR will work after the 
timeout lapses.
