I do this too.  :-)

I have only a couple of Headers (each a column) plus the full Body in
a seperate column.  For security reason, I save the FULL header in a
seperate column which will be cleared after one year (trigers works
automaticly).

My access interface is PHP5.

Body and attachments?

I split them on the fly using PHP5
