I've read the documentation and can't figure out how to enable the crude-parental \
filter.  As a matter of fact I can't get anything to work.  I really would appreciate \
someone walking me through this.  thanks, John

How to apply filters is described in detail in the documentation.

"I can't get anything to work" is not a particular useful problem
description, so please have a look a the filter documentation or
provide some more details to help us help you.

That being said, the crude-parental filter is very unreliable
(as documented in the manual), and as cainesaj already
mentioned, Privoxy may not be the best tool around for
content-based parental filtering.

Rather than waste time trying and failing to reinvent a poor wheel using
this tool, try using the OpenDNS k12 filter[1]. I don't use it, but I do
know someone who does and they are very happy with it.
