Summary: How can we run Privoxy to only do URL filtering?

Initial Comment:
Hello,

We need to run Privoxy only to give users of a small workgroup access to a selected \
list of URLs (white list).

We do not want to filter anything, just allow users to access the listed urls, all \
others being blocked.

We run Privoxy under Ubuntu Server 7.10.

We use the /etc/privoxy/user.action file to manage the White List.

We need to disable ALL filtering capabilities of Privoxy.

Thank you for your help.

Regards

Alex

Disabling the default.action file should be good
enough to turn filtering off.

Building a white list with a generic +block section
and a bunch of -block exceptions should be effective
as long as the enforce-blocks option is turned on.

The OP should scan the FAQ for whitelist, and read up on the trustfile.
The trustfile is the closes to what he want functionally but is a bit
crude.

I don't think Privoxy is the tool to do this, and I'd rather not help with
blocking internet access.

You can disable all filtering actions by going to p.p in a browser, then
to change-current-configuration, then to user.action, and edit the actions
at the top to disable the actions you don't want.

You could set up a regex block rule that would block everything, and then
set that rule to be overridden by a whitelist. Again, I don't think this is
the right tool for the job, since I could bypass any privoxy configuration
I can think of.
