If you have apps written in VB.NET/C# etc. you may want to look at the
Postgres.NET driver. I think its part of the Mono Project.
I'm not sure how robust it is right now since it is still in beta, but =
I am
using it for some simple ASP.NET apps and the performance has been =
adequate
for those. I imagine that eventually the performance will be better =
than
the ODBC driver - if it isn't already. Also the code is opensource so
someone could conceivably extend it to support PostGIS spatial =
components
similar to what has been done with the JDBC driver.

Hello Jaromir,
see
http://gborg.postgresql.org/project/psqlodbc/projdisplay.php
for a postgresql odbc-driver.
Having configured an odbc-connection for your postgis-database you can =
e.g.
load your postgis-tables into an access-database. With VB-applications =
via
the odbc-connection you can easily read/write postgis data from windows
using the adodb-library.
I hope this helps,

regards,

Christina

Hello,

How can strings be sent to (and retrieved from) PostGIS, which runs on =
a
Linux server, from a Windows application? Both Linux and Windows =
computers
are networked. Using ODBC driver? Then how?
I am new to PostGIS.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!
