You could urge Fedora to package pptpd and then maybe it will appear in
the next version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and then maybe CentOS will
take it.

Or you could use something like Debian or Ubuntu who have already
packaged it.

You have failed to edit the plugins/patchlevel.h file to match the
version of pppd you are using.  Edit the file, rebuild pptpd, and try
again.  Alternatively, do not use the logwtmp plugin.

You are not getting GRE packets back.  Something is blocking them.

This is not relevant, it happens after the real failure, and has nothing
to do with it.
