I'm using radius (Freeradius) to authenticate my poptop users. That way,
with a <radwho> command (in the radius server, of course) I can see who
is logged in, and <radlast> gives me a recent history. Also, enabling
the freeradius logs, you get a relatively extensive log of who connected
when, from where, what IP was attributed, and other details.
Info on how to use radius with poptop is in the poptop site itself, if
I'm not mistaken.
