This has had me scratching my head for days now, so I'm hoping someone
else on here might have come across this or a similar problem, and be
able to point me in the right direction.

When I connect to my pptpd server there are certain web sites that I
cannot access, the ones I have been testing against are www.o2.co.uk
and www.bbc.co.uk. Some of the linked sites (ie news.bbc.co.uk) are
fine as are many other sites (ie google, gmail etc)

The server itself can access these sites fine, as can the client when
the vpn is not connected.

Having tried just about everything, I have discovered that this
problem only occurs when I'm using MPPE encryption. If I comment out
the lines requiring mppe in options.pptpd I can connect to the vpn and
access these sites fine.

Does anyone have any idea why using mppe should cause this and how I
can get around it? Disabling mppe is not an option as its the whole
point of using the vpn.

Other things I have tried:
Different virtual servers (all Xen) in different locations
Different flavours of linux – Centos 4, Centos 5, Ubuntu 8 (all
 2.6.18 kernels though)
Different clients ( XP & Vista from different locations)
I thought it might be mtu problems, but playing around with the mtu
does not resolve it.
I also though it might be my firewall setup, so that is now minimal
iptables, just containing a single line to masquerade.
 It's not a DNS problem
I also tried the various CLAMPMSS / pmtu settings to no avail.

TIA.
Jon
