There are included plugins for pam_winbind and radius in the poptop release
of ppp [1].  You can check the ppp lists for more pam options.  However,
these other options (pam) have problems with encryption.  So maybe this isn't
what you want.  Radius is the most versatile.  Pam_winbind is of course best
for Microsoft authentication.
