I finally quit grinning over this one enough to answer it. This is really
a "I get a stabbing pain in my eye when I drink tea" sort of problem...

don't leave the spoon in.

What are you doing that you require that you not have to type in at least
one letter (ie why don't you give him/her a nickname of 'a' and then just
type 'a')?

if you can't type the 'a', tell us why and maybe we can come up with a
solution....
