    What do you mean by "pound sign"?  Do you mean the British currency 
symbol for "pound sterling" (shaped somewhat like the letter 'L'), or do 
you mean what (at least) Americans refer to as a "pound sign," a hash 
mark or tic-tac-toe sign ('#' on my US keyboard, ASCII 0x23)?
