If you are getting ENOLCK errors (which did not happen under earlier 
versions of Linux), then something is wrong with the operating system and 
that should be fixed.

The entire purpose of locking as part of delete is to ensure that an open 
mailbox is not deleted.  It is not safe to assume that an ENOLCK error 
means that the mailbox is not locked by another process.
