I've seen this.  I'm guessing that a checkpoint cannot run when a
transaction is active.  Since add is a very long-lived transaction,
you are having trouble.  I could change the code for add to make each
added or changed key a separate transaction.  This might help.

I'm not sure what this means.

I can report this to sleepycat, but the test case isn't very simple :-/
