Sorry about the misleading answer.

pfSense 1.2 still does not honor the "noatime" fstab setting!

pfSense 1.2.1RC1 does take the "noatime" in /etc/fstab into account.

I have been working with 1.2.1RC1 for so long that I forgot
it does not work with version 1.2 or earlier.
