The pre-req for the rollup is annoying, for the PCs I've setup recently I've actually \
skipped the rollup because it actually means more reboots.

It's a shame the rollup doesn't install the pre-req first.

Subject: [patchmanagement] Convenience rollup doesn't make much difference in the \
real world

Had a project recently where I had 5 computers where Windows 7 had never been updated \
-- or at least not for a few years.

In this scenario, the systems were restricted from the Internet and had no access to \
a WSUS server -- reasonable customer operative -- and so, they never processed \
updates -- didn't need to and were never compromised..

It has taken almost a full two days to update these systems. Because of the nature \
of these computers they had to be done one at a time.

This after applying the patch prereq, rollup and June agent update.

While the detection process was good. It still took four or five install\reboot \
cycles -- the rollup does not cover the "other microsoft products" and so that takes \
a lot of time.

Spending that much time to patch Windows -- and these don't have Office!! Ugh.

Lars
