"msiexec /i..." wouldn't be slipstreaming, but installing, and then you DO use \
/update, as in the Windows Installer command reference (msiexec /?) below.

I've done this for years with zero problems.

Slipstreaming would be integrating patches into the installation files of the \
software, so that the resulting files will allow a direct installation of the updated \
software.  In this case, you'd be using msiexec /a blah.msi, and you could still use \
/update.
