ok, somehow it's embarrassing to tell you what was wrong. anyway here
i go:

'faking authloop for illegal user' means pam isn't able to retrieve
any userinformation and how does pam know how to retrieve the info?
right, nsswitch. so - after a 'apt-get install nss_ldap' and
modification of its configfile it finally and gladfully worked.

thanks for any attention payed to my incompetence ;)
