Subject: Is current pktcdvd suppossed to work under 2.4.[0-2][0-9] (no devfs)?

I'm running 2.4.22, and have gotten everything that I could get my hands on
patched and installed, yet I think I'm missing out on something...

Specifically, I think I'm missing the character device driver (the replacement
for the ioctl() based communication from pktcdvd to the /dev/scdX, I
think...)

1) I have patched the kernel with the appropriate patch for 2.4.22. BTW,
something's fishy in that /proc/misc never reports the character driver for
which the pktcdvd seekests...

2) I have patched udftools-1.0.03b with its patch.

3) I've got writable udf compiled as a module and modprobe'd.

Everything's happy, execpt:

# pktsetup -s
Can't find pktcdvd character device
ctl open: Not a directory

Given this, and that pktsetup is >= 0.2.0, I'm wondering if its even intended
to work under 2.4.22 (without devfs)?

I 'm a developer of sorts, though pkt drivers are a bit new to me, device
drivers are not. If someone can point me in the write [sic :-) ] direction,
maybe I can code something up if its just a matter of porting from devfs to
standard character device driver.

Thanks,
zoltan
