If you use OS X, there's a new great app for quickly sharing files, 
using ownCloud:

And it's open source! https://github.com/Leandros/ownDrop

Basically you drop the file on the tray icon, it's uploaded, shared, and 
the share link is automatically copied to your clipboard. (Similar to 
the proprietary CloudApp: http://www.getcloudapp.com/ )
