The new alias is recorded only internally. In general we're reluctant to
write to actual because of security concerns.

You can read the "current version" of the alias settings from the
/settings/alias/list
in a format appropriate for a new alias file.

If your question is whether the new alias is recorded in owhttpd or upstream
in owserver, the answer is more complicated.
