Gary,
Osiris is correctly configured on the clients. Services are running and
ports are open. This is very specifically a Windows2008 issue, and based
on what I can tell, the Osiris app iis simply not recognizing the
windows version.

Thanks,
Darren

You did install the client first I am assuming before initing from
server I am assuming. Are you using any firewall service on the 2008
server? Do you see the client service running?

Sure, I have dns resolution there...doesn't change the behavior.

Per the event viewer, it's hitting the server..and all 30 of so of our
win2003 servers are set via ip address....

Thanks,

Darren

Have you tried using appmail as computer name? Can you ping by name
from the Osris server?

Gary,

It doesn't get that far in the process...I do an init, it asks for
confirmation, and throws the error.

On the event viewer on the client box, I'm seeing this:

When you init, you should be able to specify the config you want to use.
Doesn't even need to have a default. Maybe you should do a verify on
the config you created?

Gary

Thanks, Gary, but I tried that already and no go.

I would think you could copy a existing config, edit it in notepad if
any of Windows system directories, maybe call it default.Windows2008.
C:\WINDOWS\osiris\configs is the default Windows directory for configs
if running OSIRIS server in Windows.

When I try to init a 2008 host, I'm getting the message:

host is of unknown platform type, no default configuration exists.

Is there any workaround for this? In that situation, could I create an
"unknown" config type? Generally, the service seems to be running fine
on the clients.

Thanks,

Darren
