To exclude a directory file, but not its contents:

     Exclude file ("path/to/directory$")

To exclude the contents of a directory, but not the directory itself,
i.e. skip a directory:

     NoEntry path/to/directory

To exclude a directory altogether (directory and its contents):

     Exclude file("path/to/directory$")
     NoEntry path/to/directory
