FYI, some minutes correction with respect to SPEC SFS NFS V4 support
provided by Don included below. I probably heard it wrong at the
meeting.

I will post corrections ASAP.

Thanks Don!

Mary,

Hello, I'm interested in the Storage/Networking SIG and would
like to join in, follow along, and possibly contribute. That's
the good news. The bad news is that I can not figure out
how to establish this environment using the OSDL web
    interface.

    Some background on me...

    1. I'm the author and support staff for Iozone. This is a popular
filesystem benchmark that is used to measure the performance
        of local and network filesystems.

    2. I'm the chair of the SPEC SFS subcommittee. This is the
        current industry standard NFS benchmark.

    3. I've read some of the minutes of the Storage SIG and
can assure everyone, the assumptions made in those
minutes, about SPEC's SFS benchmark supporting NFS V4
in 2005, are, well, hmmmmm.... Not likely, Not on any
plan of record, Has NO resources allocated by any member
company of SPEC, the benchmark would require major
infrastructure changes, there is NO workload is available for
a basis, the are NO tools for collecting workload data at
customer
sites, there are NO customers signed up to collect NFS V4
workloads, and very few member companies have asked for NFSV4
in SFS. (We'll HP has asked, and pushed but with no success as
the majority of the SFS member companies are not interested.)
Who ever put the "expect SPEC SFS to support NFS V4 in 2005"
in the SIG minutes, would better serve the SIG if he/she were to
contact SPEC before making such statements.

    4. I'm working with Trond Myklebust and Charles Lever, on NFS V4
stuff
and they recommended that I join your band of merry soles :-)

Can you help me setup the environment such that I am a member
of the set of entities involved in the NFS V4, Storage, Networking
    SIG at OSDL ?

Thank you,
Don Capps
