It's not anything wrong with what you're doing. The perl tests are 5.8.8 
based and have some pretty serious issues testing against 5.10.0.

We have a bug open on the spec (which also impacts the tests):

http://bugs.linuxbase.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2246

The spec currently says perl 5.8.X, with X >= 8. With more distributions 
moving to 5.10, we need to review this and come up with a test stragegy.
