I am not sure I understand ... you modify it during update, and then unmodify
it when the update is finished?

Because the whole purpose of nsswitch.conf.rpmnew is to avoid modifying
without precautions nsswitch.conf ... if I understand correstly.

yes, but some seemed to have exactly the same symptoms.

That is why I spend so much time describing what happened to me, with my
suggestions ...  for my benefit and for the benefit of the community (it is
the same in my mind).
