Hi.

That's incorrect. LXDE is actively maintained and still gaining features like
split pane in PCManFM or the new weather plugin in LXPanel. I started using
LXDE some time ago and given that it was a bit neglected I decided to learn
about packaging. Since then I've been continuously submitting new versions of
the desktop components. It's only that with a small team you can't move
forward very fast. Their current status can be checked in their wiki:

   http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Status_of_LXDE_components

or you can browse their git site:

   http://git.lxde.org/gitweb/?o=age

They even have implemented some of my feature requests like the ability to
support custom gtkrc files (aka theming support) in LXPanel, and that was a
week ago (split view was one of my feature request too).

I don't care if it is killed from the DVD or not (I can understand it) because
I know how to install it anyway, but I think that's not the general case.
Sadly, I barely have the skills to package the new releases and apply patches.
Integration of the packages in the system is out of my scope and given the
lack of interest in this desktop the natural step is to remove it from the
DVD. But it's a pity. I think that the current LXDE status is great, mature,
and the packages for openSUSE are now up to date.

Greetings.
