Linux native partitioning tools often cause it. "Bootable" is irrelevant on 
Linux-only systems with Grub on MBR. DOS, OS/2 and WinDOS versions find more 
than one "bootable" primary per HD an obstacle to startup. Legacy MBR boot 
code doesn't handle more than one well either, but may not care as long as 
the first marked has the partition boot code that matters to the primary or 
sole boot manager/loader.
