The new TeXLive system support things like

   zypper install 'tex(ptmr7t.tfm)'

for times you may not want MetaFont as there is not .mf file around.
To use zypper in this way the repository for openSUSE 12.2

  http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Publishing:/TeXLive/openSUSE_12.2/

should been added.
