We are both using KDE with Plasma. I suppose it is possible that
OpenSuse has added different drivers to KDE than what Kubuntu uses.

The drivers included in KDE/Plasma barely make the graphics work. It's
really kind of hard to explain. When switching from one window to
another sometimes the new window opens completely and other times it
only partially opens. Parts of the old window still show. It's just a
total mess. In 14.04 and Catalyst the graphics are fantastic.
