after a lot of trying around, i copied the 64bit plugin to 
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/, where it's picked up from all browsers i'm using (FF, 
chromium, konqueror, opera). i have no idea why it doesn't work in any of the 
other plugin directories, but it doesn't.

and, of course, all the nsplugin-stuff under /usr/lib/~ has to be removed or 
renamed.
