put the following in your browser (if you have 11.1) :):

http://software.opensuse.org/ymp/science/openSUSE_11.1/maxima.ymp

it should add/install also the dependences.

If you don't have 11.1 then go to http://software.opensuse.org/search
select your opensuse version and search for "maxima", then follow the
1click install.
