Hi Edward,

If you type "which make" at the command line does the system find it?

Usually in Solaris to build software you need the development tools,
which AREN'T installed by default, and you need a C compiler (generally
people use binaries of gcc that they download or purchase the Sun
compiler)

The development tools are the linker, the library archiver, the make
program, etc. and generally reside in /usr/ccs/bin If you don't have
that the go back to the Solaris install CD's and install them.

Sounds like this is your first time compiling software on your Solaris
box? If so, you might want to post in some of the Solaris forums, people
there can help you get your development environment setup correctly.
OpenSSL is a pretty big project for a newbie to tackle!

Ted
