Would also like to see progress on this. ASKPASS and DISPLAY
entanglement is causing headaches on Windows where askpass is not
present.

Am interested in the history behind read_passphrase forcing ASKPASS
semantics even despite callers explicitly omitting the RP_USE_ASKPASS
flag. That seems... aggressive.
