Sorry it's taken so long to track this down; we ran into a very similar
problem internally, which I finally tracked to a compiler bug:
6323803 compiler bug causes __*mul64 failure; svc.configd dies
I'm fairly sure this is the same thing you're hitting, but I've got
a couple questions to verify it:
1. do you have a separate /usr partition?
2. what is the output of:
% usr/ccs/dis -F__mul64 lib/libc.so.1
on the broken root filesystem? (alternatively, just point me
at the BFU archives you're using)
