A zfs clone might be sufficiently similar, depending on what you want; no unwhiteout \
or lsw commands; but you could always look at the snapshot on which the clone was \
based, to see what was present "underneath".
ISTR that tfs was just too unusual and had too many problems to get ported from SunOS \
4.x/Solaris 1.x to SunOS 5.y/Solaris 2.y (or just Solaris y, where y>=7). And even \
fairly early on, there was some talk that it was more or less experimental, and might \
not continue to be supported. Google a bit, you might be able to find more about why \
if you're really interested.
The main use I can think of for that sort of thing is if one needed to make some \
relatively minor tweaks to an existing tree for the purpose of creating a \
distribution archive or iso image; or perhaps with zones to create a modifiable \
throwaway environment that took additional space only to the extent that it had \
changes from the base version of the tree. This message posted from opensolaris.org
