No, that's not a given. It is entirely possible to run a downstream community that \
maintains a derivative that includes all the changes being released in the upstream \
project while adding additional or modified goodness, upstreaming changes where \
possible but otherwise remaining distinct. This is essentially what Ubuntu does to \
Debian, for example.  The options open to the OpenSolaris community are far more \
nuanced than the gloomy outcomes I've seen described on this list.
