well i finally got my tweaked ferrari 4000 up and running properly with its new ML-44. i was able to decipher the powerstates and create two more entries for 2.2 and 2.4 GHz. the system idles at 800MHz around 42C (up a bit from the ML-40) and the gnome panel applet shows 8.5 watts. when it ramps all the way up to 2.4GHz it shows it drawing the full rated 35watts. i still want to experiment with lower Vcore values as AMD maintains that 1.35V is the max for all the ML turions and the guy at Acer's "tech support" line had no idea what i was talking about-- i.e. why they're ramping it up to 1.5V in the 4006 (guess based on 1.45V in the 2GHz 4005 table)

thanks to bernd and casper for all their help!
