It would be good to have an exact name that's working on your Mac and 
then not working on Solaris.  Is the file present on Solaris and just 
the name looks funny, or is the mac not even successfully creating the 
file onto ZFS?

There was a problem with creating certain filenames on mixed sensitivity 
ZFS but that fix has been back for some time.
