Yes, HUDS remember the position and size just like clothing or attached
prims .. Other people can Resize or Change the HUD location like they want. 
Mayby they already wearing a different HUD at this position .. And some
viewers have slightly different offsets, but the HUD should be at least
where 
you want it to be ..

Will that stay active after i transfer the object to another user? I am
trying to package up a hud script for other users, so i cant just drag it
round if that doesn't   take permanently... Ill give your tip a try and see
if it works though.

Right-click the HUD and Edit, then scroll back. You will see the scene
shrink as you would if you did the same with the camera. In the scene you
will also see a white box. This is your viewing area. Simply move the HUD
until it is completely within the white box.
