xgcc... is this GCC you are trying to build? FWIW, on Tru64 binutils
doesn't work properly either, so what I did was to specify 
'-Dwith_binutils=no' to build the GCC rpm.

The problem with binutils on Tru64 is that there is no GNU AS and 
GNU LD for this platform, so the native assembler and linker need
to be used.
