It does, but selection of the first cell is a bit tricky. 
Put cursor in the cell, then hold down mouse button and drag to next cell (do 
not release button) and then back to the first cell (now you can release 
button). First cell remains selected (black bg). After that you can select 
additional sells by holding down Ctrl key and clicking cells.
