I can help getting the ball rolling. I was at a point one of the main
contributors to the JPackage project
(http://www.jpackage.org/, native packaging of java software - now
that's a thankless task if I know one). It got endorsed by Red
Hat/Novell... at about the time when I reduced my involvement, so I
guess we did a lot of things right. I know pretty well how rpm works,
where Red Hat/Fedora packagers hang out, what are the points that make a
piece of software easy or not to package natively

However with experience and years comes less free time for fun stuff, so
I won't be the one doing packaging work long-term. But I know what
native packagers need and the hundred small things that can ruin their
day, so I can help setting up a packaging group.

Regards,
